What the barcode generator does

Turn a product number into a barcode image you can print on labels, packaging or hang tags. The generator makes UPC-A, EAN-13, EAN-8 and Code 128 barcodes, with the human-readable digits under the bars and the empty space (quiet zone) scanners need on each side.

Make one barcode with a live preview and download it as PNG or SVG, or switch to bulk mode, paste a list or choose a CSV column, and download all barcodes in one ZIP file. Everything runs in your browser; your numbers are never uploaded.

Check digits, calculated for you

UPC-A, EAN-13 and EAN-8 numbers end in a check digit, which lets a scanner catch a misread. Enter the number without its last digit (11 digits for UPC-A, 12 for EAN-13, 7 for EAN-8) and the generator adds the correct check digit. Enter the full number and it checks the last digit; if it doesn't match, you see which digit it should be, so typos don't end up on your packaging.

Which format to choose

UPC-A is the 12-digit retail barcode common in the United States and Canada. EAN-13 is the 13-digit version used in most other countries; any scanner that reads one usually reads the other. EAN-8 is a short version for very small packages. Code 128 holds letters and numbers, so it suits your own SKUs, shelf labels and warehouse bins rather than retail checkouts.

Barcode images, not barcode numbers

This tool creates barcode images only. It does not give you an official product number. Marketplaces such as Amazon, and most large retailers, require UPC or EAN numbers licensed from GS1, the organisation that manages them. Buy your numbers from GS1 (or check the rules of the marketplace you sell on), then use this generator to make the images.

Printing tips

Print black bars on a white or light background, keep the empty space at the sides, and don't squash or stretch the image. SVG stays sharp at any size and suits printers and design tools; PNG is easiest for labels and spreadsheets. Test-scan a printed sample with a phone or scanner before printing a large batch.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use these barcodes on Amazon?

Only with a product number you're allowed to use. This tool makes barcode images, not official numbers. Amazon and most retailers require UPC or EAN numbers licensed from GS1. Get your numbers from GS1, then make the images here.

What is a check digit?

The last digit of a UPC or EAN number, calculated from the other digits so scanners can spot a misread. Enter the number without it and the generator adds it, or enter the full number and the generator checks it.

Do the barcodes include a quiet zone?

Yes. Every image includes the empty space the format needs on each side (for example 11 bar widths before an EAN-13 and 9 on each side of a UPC-A) plus the human-readable digits under the bars.

Should I download PNG or SVG?

SVG stays sharp at any size and is best for printing and design tools. PNG works everywhere, including label printers and spreadsheets.

How many barcodes can I make at once?

Up to 500 in bulk mode, from a pasted list or a CSV column, downloaded together as a ZIP file. Invalid numbers are listed with the reason, so you can fix them.

Does it use credits?

No. You need to be signed in to see and download the barcodes, but the generator never uses credits. Your activity history only records how many barcodes you made, never the numbers.
