What the image compressor does

Add up to 50 images, choose a quality and, if you like, a maximum size for the longest side, and the compressor saves every image again as a smaller file. The list shows each image's size before and after and the total saving, so you can find the right balance before you download them one by one or as a ZIP.

Everything runs in your browser; your images are never uploaded.

Why compress product images

Photos from cameras, phones and suppliers are often 3 to 10 MB each, while a product page shows them at a fraction of that size. Heavy images make collection and product pages slow, especially on phones with a weak connection, and slow pages lose visitors. Compressing to a few hundred kilobytes usually makes no visible difference.

Choosing the settings

Quality 75 to 85 is the sweet spot for photos. Limit the longest side to 2048 pixels for Shopify (its recommended size) or 1200 to 1600 for most WooCommerce themes; larger images are wasted on screens. Keep the original format, or save as WebP for the smallest files (Shopify and WooCommerce both accept it). PNG is lossless, so for PNG the quality slider doesn't apply: limit the size or switch to WebP instead.

How compression works

JPG and WebP compression throws away fine detail the eye barely notices, such as subtle colour variations in a smooth background, and the quality setting controls how much. Limiting the size helps even more: a 6000-pixel photo shrunk to 2048 pixels has about nine times fewer pixels to store. Each image is saved fresh from its pixels, so hidden metadata is removed too, which saves a few extra kilobytes.

Part of the Product Image Toolkit

This page opens Findora's Product Image Toolkit with this mode selected. The same images can also be resized to Shopify or WooCommerce sizes, converted to JPG, PNG, WebP, PDF or ICO, compressed, cropped, renamed, rotated, watermarked or cleaned of metadata: switch modes at the top and the results update. Each batch takes up to 50 images of up to 40 MB, and every file shows its size before and after, so you always know what you're downloading.

Frequently asked questions

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, and your images never leave your device. Your activity history only records how many images were processed.

How much smaller will my images be?

Camera and supplier photos often shrink by 60-90%. Images that are already optimised shrink less; the list shows the exact result for each.

Can I compress PNG files?

PNG is lossless, so the biggest savings come from limiting the size or saving as WebP (which keeps transparency).

Will people notice lower quality?

At 75-85 most people can't tell the difference on a product page. Compare a result with the original before you upload them all.

How many images can I convert at once?

Up to 50 images at a time, each up to 40 MB. Download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.

Does it use credits?

No. You need to be signed in to see and download the results, but the image toolkit is free and unlimited and never uses credits.
